Custom Road Side Display 16′ x 8′ for Miracle Homes Inc. in Menomonee Falls, WI
When you specialize in the building of high quality homes like Miracle Homes, homes that are priced for the average person, you tend to stay very busy. So busy that sometimes projects that don’t have to do with building homes get pushed back. Now imagine that you have spent the past year buying property, designing a home that is truly remarkable and building that home so that it was ready for the big new home show but you forgot to design and order all of the signs. Gulp. How are your potential customers going to find you? This isn’t a problem if you are dealing with Optimum Signs where we specialize in unique and dramatic signage, no matter where it has to be displayed.
We started on Sunday with a hand written sketch from our customer. We determined length and width and which colors would really make this sign stand out. Plus we had to determine what type of material to use so that the sign looked great for the entire 8 weeks that the sign needed to be displayed. We had to cover 16′ wide and 8′ tall. Our choices were: vinyl banner material, coroplast, wood, or Sintra (PVC). We looked at banner material first but quickly ruled it out as we would need to seam the material and that would disrupt the colors and design of the sign. Next, we looked at coroplast (corrugated plastic). The coroplast doesn’t deliver a smooth platform to mount the vinyl print on and always allows the flutes to show through the design. Our goal was to have the design get noticed, not the substrate. Next we looked at a type of exterior grade, wooden sign board. The weight of the individual sheets alone ruled this out. Finally we looked at Sintra (high impact PVC) in a 6 mil thickness. Sintra gives us a very smooth platform with a lot of options on how to mount it. This was especially important as we had to mount it to the side of a box truck while maintaining a very moderate cost. Looks like we have a winner. We also talked to our customer as he has carpenters on staff and asked if they could build a frame to hang on the side of a truck, which he gladly did.
Next we decided to print the panels of the sign moving from left to right to minimize any gaps in the sign. As you can see from the picture, the seems are almost invisible. And once we built an arrow tip to complete the directional arrow, the sign was complete. Home buyers had no problem finding the new model home. And I will say this, Miracle Homes has exceeded anything that they have done in the past. Their new model home is unbelievable. Quality that is second to none and yet very affordable. And all of this done and delivered by close of business on Wednesday!
